ardour-altivec software package provides transitional dummy package for (altivec-optimized) ardour, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install ardour-altivec
ardour-altivec is installed in your system.
Make ensure the ardour-altivec package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep ardour-altivec *
You will get with ardour-altivec package name, version, architecture and description in a table
